Winter is that lovely time that you want to spend with family and friends indoor. With warm soups and hearty meals, the conversations become lovelier. But the winters always have a way to show on your hair. Dry and limp hair problems are accentuated because of the cold weather and how! But there is good news. Your kitchen has many answers for dry and damaged winter hair. You can create hair masks, just the way you do for your skin. The techniques to apply them are slightly different but they’re just so simple – you have to try these:

  1. Coconut Oil – This mask is the best for winter moisturization. You can heat the oil to luke warm and massage it in the scalp. Leave for an hour to overnight and wash off. Voila!
  2. Mix 2 egg yolks with half an avocado and leave this mask on dry hair for 10 minutes before washing it off thoroughly. You will need a strong fragranced shampoo to ward off the egg smell but this mask counters dryness very well.
  3. A beaten egg yolk with one spoon olive oil is a great way to protect and nourish hair follicles in the winter.
  4. A mixture of 1 spoon honey with equal parts olive oil and 1/4th cup yoghurt helps create shine and moisture for dry hair. Not for people prone to colds of course.
  5. Four spoons of honey and three spoons of olive oil is recommended for people who are not comfortable with adding yogurt to the hair mask.
  6. A well blitzed (in a grinder so you are not stuck taking pieces out from your hair later) mixture of a ripe avocado with 4 ripe bananas increases hair elasticity and provides strength.
  7. Add 200 grams blended strawberries to an egg yolk and 2 spoons of olive oil. Leave for 30 minutes for giving a great shine to the hair.
  8. For increased nourishment, mix half a ripe banana, few drops of almond oil with 2 spoons of honey. Blend it to a smooth paste and apply on hair for 20 minutes.
  9. Mix a ripe, blended papaya with half cup of full fat yogurt to treat winter dry hair.
  10. One cup full fat raw milk with 2 spoons of honey is a liquid mask which is non-greasy and leaves the hair feeling smooth and soft.
  11. One spoon coconut oil and two spoons of honey make an excellent mask for winters.
