Do you know the secret of those long, shiny hair that is enviable? How do they get the perfect hair? You don’t need water or a blowout to guarantee a good hair day. Here is a little secret – Use homemade dry shampoo which is quick and very easy to make! You get clean, good looking hair without even getting them wet.

Washing your hair every single day is somewhat less than ideal, since rinsing away dirt and causes the scalp and hair shaft to lose the natural oil, plus it’s a nightmare to style wet hair. So, now you can also opt for dry shampoo to get rid of the feel of slightly greasy hair and get your styling done easily.

Now you must be wondering how dry shampoo works and is it really that good. Dry shampoo puts the oil absorbing substance at the root. It gets brushed, blown and combed with the hair, so it is a mess-free process. It blends with the oil in the hair giving the overall appearance a natural hint.

Yes, it is hard to believe that dry shampoo has all these advantages. Then why not go for conventional dry shampoos in the market? The products that are available in the market contains toxic substances such as propane, limonene, isobutane and many other harmful substances that are not good for hair, making them thin if used regularly. You definitely don’t want to risk your hair. A good solution is to make it at home. Honesty! It is simple, no out of the box materials required and will not take much of your time.

Here is how you make your own dry shampoo:

  • Mix 2 tablespoon of cornstarch with 3 drops of oil (any fragrance oil of your choice can be taken). If you have dark hair add a little cocoa powder or cinnamon. Either sprinkle the mixture and work with your fingers so that it reaches the roots or apply with a large makeup brush on the roots directly both the ways are fine. Now you can comb your hair.
  • An alternative method is to have arrowroot powder in an airtight jar. You can add a few drops of essential oil if you want; otherwise the powder alone is fine too. Use makeup brush to apply the powder to the scalp. You can brush the extra powder off with a comb. Arrowroot absorbs the extra oil in the hair throughout the day.

Many find using dry shampoo an easier alternative to wet washing. Basic ingredients and fabulous results, now that’s a good package!
